Presentation reflection

Water shortage
 
 
Omar started his presentation by introducing himself and identified the topics that he was explaining to us.

First of all, Omar said that our environment is affected by creatures and interacts with the natural resources; people will face a lot of environmental problems when the demand on the nonrenewable resources has been increased such as water; and this needs to be focused on.

Then, he identified the issue by saying that India has a water shortage problem; causes of water shortage are human made causes like careless consumers, industrial waste, setting nuclear rules and bad management of the government & natural made causes like global warming.

After that, Omar showed us the solutions for water shortage that are helping Indians to save the water as much as they can. These solutions are purification which is used to make unclean water useful to drink and it is not the best solution for India as he said, and recycling and reusing water which helps to reduce the consumption of useful water and save it in order to use it on demand & it is good for using in agriculture or green areas.

Finally, Mr. Hedley asked Omar many questions about the subject and Omar answered all the teacher’s questions.

Presentation reflection/evaluation

Civil Defense

First, Ahmed started presentation by introducing himself and gave a good description about his presentation which was about Civil Defense. He started with the historical facts about establishing the civil defense in the world which was exactly in the USA after the 1st World War.He was clear & he was confident.

Then he presented the PPEs, tools and vehicles that firemen use during their tasks. Also he talked about the fire extinguishers (types and uses). In general he gave us good information about the civil defense and it was useful information.

Finally, Mr. Hedley asked Ahmed & discussed with him about why and when civil defense was established. Then Omar asked him about some fire extinguishers & Ahmed answered all the questions. Overall, the presentation was organized & useful.

Reflection on meeting

The chairman Mohamed Ahmed opened the meeting at 08:30 with Hedley, Saleh & Hammam by going through the agenda. The meeting was about the college life. We discussed the agenda & everyone came out with different ideas that will make the students' life easier between study and social life. We all agreed that the college should support the social life of students by providing trips to different countries in summer time & try to take them to social exhibitions in the UAE to learn diverse cultures and adapt to social life . Also we agreed that the college should set certain dates for family day & open day. On the other hand we came out with an important point which is adding special programs for weak students who are facing problems in the study to help them. After that we discussed how to implement these points & give our recommendation to the ADMC administration so we have decided to define a meeting with the administration & the students' council to manage these points. At the end the chairman Mohamed closed the meeting and thanked Hedley, Saleh & Hammam.

Agenda:
1          Support the social life of students.
2         Change in ADMC policy.
3         Solutions for supporting student life.
4         Plan for the action.
          

Objectives:
This meeting is to look at what the college could provide to support students socially. We will discuss how to develop the solutions needed to make the students' life easier between study and social life. We will also discuss how to implement this planned change and give our recommendations to the ADMC Administration. After that we will look at the timetable for this change.


The Meeting:

The chairman Mohamed Ahmed opened the meeting at 08:30  
1. Support the social life of students.
Saleh said it is a good idea.
Hedley was interested in the activity.
Hammam said that the college should provide an open day for students and teachers to do their own hobbies that day.
Mohamed said the ADMC should provide for students from different sections trips in summer time to different countries. Also he said  the college should take the students to visit every social exhibition in the UAE & Hedley agreed with his idea.
Hammam said the administration should organize a family day for students & teachers. Hedley said to him sometimes they did at weekends & Hammam told him if they do it in the middle of week with a dinner party would be better.
2.Change in ADMC policy.
Mohamed suggested adding a program for the weak students who are facing  problems in their study like giving them special classes.
Saleh said that the administration should accept family reasons for the student if  the student is absent from the lesson & missing any exam & try to help him.
3.Solution for supporting student life.
Mohamed said that the college should set a certain date for a family day & open day. Also Hammam said the college should locate a small land for the kid's park project to let the children play on family day. Then Saleh said the ADMC should survey about the weak students by consideration if their GPA is below 2 or 1.5 & give him special programs.
4. Plan for the action.
At the end of the meeting the chairman Mohamed said we will have a meeting with the administration & the students' council to discuss these points and manage them. Then Saleh said we are going to start with these points next year.

Position: Section Head of Oil Operations

Saleh : good morning. Mr. Hedley: good morning and welcome. Mr. Hedley: can you tell us about yourself?   Saleh introduced himself and he said: I am flexible, a quick learner & I have experience.


Ahmed: How much experience do you have? Saleh said: I had 10 years in oil operations with ADCO. Ahmed: What is your current position? Saleh said: I was a Supervisor. Ahmed: Have you heard something negative about us? Saleh: Nothing. Ahmed: Why do you want to work with our company? Saleh: It is a new challenge for me & I have the ability to do the job.

Mohamed Abdulla asked: What is your greatest strength? Saleh said: I'm a great motivator & amazing problem solver. Mohamed Abdulla: And your greatest weaknesses? Saleh: I occasionally focus on small details and sometimes I miss the big picture. Mohamed Abdulla: Where do you see yourself in 3 years time?  Saleh: I want to be having a position of more responsibility as a manager. Mohamed Abdulla: Why should we hire you? Saleh: I have the ability to do this job & experience.

Mr. Hedley asked Saleh if he had any questions.
Saleh asked when he could start.  After 1 month. And he asked how long has the position been open? Before 1 month.

Mr. Hedley closed the interview at 0830.

Interviewee: Yousef
Interviewers: Hedley,Mohammed Abdulla & Ahmed Saleh
Position: Operation manager in ADNOC
 First of all Mr. Hedley welcomed the interviewee and introduced the interviewers.Yousef introduced himself saying that he was born in 1981 & he was warking more than 10 years for Borouge Company as a shift supervisor & now he is on study leave in HCT.
Then Ahmed started asking Yousef a question about the strengths that he has. He said that he is a challenging person; working in weak shift which means with poor knowledgeable people, taking care of laborers & training new employees. He said that he has a problem to work with careless people or people who don't want to improve.
After that, Mohamed Abdulla started asking Yousef why we should hire him. He said because he has good experience & he is hard-working. Also Mohamed asked about if he is creative or not? And give an example if he said yes? Yousef said yes, he built a team by managing foremen & pushing them to get their rights if they really deserved it.
Mr. Hedley asked the interviewee about how he was doing with inexperienced people? He said by sitting with the person and explaining to him the work.
Finally, Yousef asked who he would be working for directly. The interviewers told him that he will be taking a training program from 1 to 2 months and will be working in oil & gas operations section if he get the job.
Mr. Hedley thanked the interviewee & closed the interview.

Interviewee: Abdulaziz Faes

Interviewers: Hedley, Mohamed Abdulla & Omar

Position: Mechanical Engineer

First of all, Mr. Hedley welcomed the interviewee & introduced the interviewers. Mr. Hedley asked Abdulaziz to introduce himself & he did so. Abdulaziz talked about his age, date of birth & where he lived.

Then, Mohamed Abdulla started asking Abdulaziz many questions like can you work under pressure? He said yes I can. Mohamed: what qualification do you have? Abdulaziz: I had a bachelor degree with GBA 3.5; also Mohamed asked him where do you see yourself in three years? He said that he will be in a high position like manager.


After that, Omar asked Abdulaziz about the greatest strength he has. Abdulaziz: I am hard-working. Omar: Why do you want to work in this company? He said that it is a good company, high salary & it is a local firm. The last question to Abdulaziz was about telling something negative about the company. He said that the location or the site of work is far from his city.

Finally, Mr. Hedley thanked the interviewee & closed the interview.

Position: Seles Representative at ADNOC

Mr. Hedley asked Saleh to introduce himself. He gave a good introduction about himself, Graduated from HCT with a bachelor degree in marketing with a GPA of 3.85.

Ahmed asked Saleh about his outside interests and Saleh said that he liked playing football with his friends not in an official club. Animal welfare is another interest for Saleh because he feels that they are not treated well.

Mohamed asked Saleh about working times and Saleh never minded about anytime except the weekends. Also he said that he can work under pressure and meet deadlines. Then Mohamed asked Saleh about his strength and Saleh said that commitment and passion are his greatest strength.

Finally Saleh asked if the company has a training program and Mohamed answered yes there is a training program for about 6 months

Mr. Hedley thanks saleh and closed the interview.
